Review a book, place, or product
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, today is a public holiday in South Africa. It is our Heritage Day and also our National Braai (BBQ) Day. Yes we are cool and therefore think we can have a national holiday to enjoy a braai.
Unfortunately, we have just got back from an awesome weekend (with one tired baba) and we don't have our own house to host a big braai so it will be just another day for us.
But my review today is a place...
The place I call home...
South Africa
I recently wrote a post all about our beautiful country for Claudz from Purple Lips and Perfect Smiles
You can read it here.
A few fun facts about the beautiful country I call home:

We have 9 provinces, as illustrated above.
We have 3 main cities:
Cape town - West coast
Durban - East coast (where I live)
Johannesburg - Inland
The Indian Ocean runs along our East coast and the water is almost always warm and great to swim. The Atlantic runs along our West coast and it is freezing!
Our main sports in South Africa are rugby, cricket and soccer. our rugby team is the Springboks, our cricket team are the Proteas and our soccer team is called Bafana Bafana. We hosted the Rugby World Cup in 1995 and the Soccer World Cup in 2010.
Our school year starts in January of each year and most schools run according to a 4 term year, with holiday breaks in April, July and September and our main 6 week holiday break over Christmas in December and January.

We have many tourist attractions and great places to visit. See some great recommendations and posts from Liz at Explore. Dream. Discover. She has some great recaps on her trip to:
Knysna Elephant Park
Day One
Day Two
Day Three
Day Four
Days Five & Six
Day Seven
Our favourite places to visit are:
Cape Town - beautiful weather in the Summer and great places to eat and drink and visit their white beaches and Table Mountain.
Phinda - a private safari lodge with daily game drives to see the Big 5 animals, beautiful lodges and tasty food.
I'm hoping that this review serves as a special invitation for all foreigners to come and visit our beautiful country and enjoy a local braai with us too.
