Dear... Place of Peace

A powerful message in this months letter with Amber.

May Letter Prompt: A Place of Peace

Dear MC,

This prompt could not come at a more fitting time - a time where I am really struggling to find places of peace (in every sense of the phrase!)

The world can be a nasty place - a society filled with hate and jealousy and mistrust which leads to crime and war and discrimination. Just yesterday, we spoke about our country and the world we live in. We spoke about where we feel safe and how to make ourselves safe. Is there somewhere else to live that could shelter us from all the wrong in the world? No, we don't believe the grass is greener. Every country has it's pros and cons, it's ups and downs. And we love our country. But more importantly, we love our country together. We could live in any country together and we would feel safe because you are my place of peace.

Home is whenever I'm with you.

And just as their physical harm and destruction going on around us, so is there emotional destruction and betrayal too. We have learnt recently, that you cannot trust anyone. Besides you and me. We can trust each other. We find peace in knowing that neither of us is holding a knife to stab each other in the back. So many people that we assumed and presumed were friends for so long, that are nothing of the sort. The type of people that have so much to say behind our backs but are pretty silent when in front of us - even worse, sickeningly sweet in front of us. But we have each other, and that's all that matters. We have so many amazing friends and people so true to us and our hearts. Those people matter.

As we embark on this new journey of making more time for us and what matters to us, rather than pleasing others. I am so grateful and so proud to call you my place of peace. My place of love and joy, laughter and special moments. Also my place of trials and tribulations and hardship and tears. But I have peace during those moments, because I share them with you.

Together, we can face and conquer any one and any thing.
You are my place of peace.

I love you MCR.

  1. So sorry to hear you are having a hard time at the moment. My 2015 resolution was to "divorce" toxic friends and people from my life and I can't tell you what a difference it has made to me as an individual, as well as to our family. Thinking of you xx

  2. I have been following along to your blog for a while now, and really enjoy your party updates etc. I am so very sorry that your friendship and family was betrayed. It has happened to me too, and it is so horrible and really painful. From what I read on your blog, you are similar to me, where friends are like family and you just simply do whatever you can to make life better / happier. Gifts (giving and receiving) are also my love language, and after one particular friendship ended I agonized for months about how much time, money, and love I had put into the friendship. How much I invested and what I really got back. I did however figure out, its better to let it go. I sadly never learn my lesson. It sucks. Thinking of you!

  3. Home is where I am with you. Oh yes ma'am. I think we so often fight to keep friendships and relationships that don't fit us well, that are, in fact, hurting us and it's damaging. It damages the way we trust and relate and share and act. It hurts us in the way we love and keep and behold. It always spills over.

I'm sorry for the hurts. I'm so sorry they're there and that someone as kind and sweet and lovely as yourself is getting ANYTHING but goodness. If only you and me were closer together! :)

  4. I am with you on this friend. Every. Little. Piece of it. I love the relationship that you and MC have and know that through the ups and downs, the highs and lows, you will always love and support one another. The world (everywhere) is becoming such a darker place. We need more bright lights such as you to keep it shining. Teach your girls through the trials and they too will shiner brighter than that ugly darkness. Love you.
